Going it alone? What to be mindful of...

It may seem like now is a great time to be advertising directly for your next hire and this method can work, if you have the time and resources to be able to do the job properly, without damaging your business and brand.

We’ve found that unfortunately, a lot of businesses currently aren’t or can’t. From speaking to candidates, what we’ve heard is that they aren’t receiving any form of feedback from applications made and worse, aren’t receiving feedback following interviews. This is probably due to time constraints, as most hiring managers also have a day job to be doing and we appreciate spinning multiple plates isn’t easy, but it is so important to do. You want to strive to ensure that anyone who interacts with your brand, has a positive experience and regardless of whether they are successful or not, leaves with a positive and lasting impression.

You might be surprised to hear that currently, many candidates are put off by applying direct, due to the volume of applications they see, or because of what they’ve heard in the industry about the business, or through lack of detail in the advert (these are just a few of the reasons candidates have given us). Now more than ever, it’s important for businesses to have a strong, positive brand perception within the industry, so when you are ready to recruit, you hire the best possible talent in the market.
